England VS New Zealand CWC19 Match 41 Result
England won the toss and elected to bat first in the 41st match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
England qualified for the World Cup 2019 semi-finals by crushing New Zealand by 119 runs and made it quite impossible for Pakistan to reach Semis. It is the first time England have reached this stage since 1992 and it’s a big moment for them. England, who have never won the World Cup, was about to score a huge score at 194-1 out of 30 overs, before managing 111 points in the last 20 overs against a New Zealand attack missing injured speeder Lockie Ferguson.
But a total of 305-8, backed by Bairstow’s second consecutive century, proved more than enough for the locals, who beat India on Sunday to get back in the fold after worrying defeats in Sri Lanka and Australia. Bairstow (106) and Jason Roy (60) took England with an opening partnership of 123 – their third century stand in a row – and 42 from captain Eoin Morgan helped them pass the 300 goals.
New Zealand was only able to manage 186 points in response, having suffered a third consecutive defeat following defeats to title-holder Pakistan and Australia, the team that beat them in 2015 final. A consolation for the Black Caps is that they should always join Australia, India, and England in the semi-finals of the 10-team group stage. Pakistan would need a radical change in the net growth rate to overtake them, even if Sarfaraz Ahmed’s team beat Bangladesh at Lord’s on Friday.
Man of the Match Award:
Johnny Bristow was awarded as man of the match award for his 106 runs.
