England Retain Same Squad for Fifth Ashes Test 2019
England has named an unchanged team for the fifth and final test of the 2019 Ashes, which starts on Thursday. The team for the ultimate test is on the expected lines as England are barely known to announce the changes during a series. England is going to play fifth, and the last Ashes Test Series, 2019 as England, retain the same squad.
The same team means Jason Roy will have another chance in the most extended format of the game, probably the last for him. In the fourth Test, he was moved in the batting order, with Joe Denly opening the innings. Although the movement was not a huge success, Denly performed well in the second set, scoring 53 points out of 123.
Roy, on the other hand, scored 22 goals in the first innings and followed 31 in the second innings. The transition to middle order was a bit successful, and if Roy succeeded in the fifth Test, England could persist and keep Denly in order.
In the fifth round, the versatile Ben Stokes will be evaluated. He had a shoulder problem on the fourth day of the test and should be fit to undergo the fifth test. But if declared unfit, Chris Woakes and Sam Curran would star in XI.
Although Woakes had his chance in the series, Curran surprisingly warmed up the bench in the previous four Tests. We could give him preference over Woakes if Stokes were away.
Although England has not been able to recover the ash urn, they have series to play. If England wins the fifth Test, the 2019 Ashes will end in a draw. If the Ashes Test 2019 ends in a draw or Australia wins, the visitors will win the series. Tim Paine and his teammates lead the series 2-1.
They won the first test and took the second test at Lords. In the third test, the home team managed a heist but lost the penultimate test. The fifth and final test of the series will begin on 12 September at Kennington Oval in London.
