Defending champions Chennai Super Kings defeated the Delhi capitals at their home. CSK wins by six wickets in the 5th game of the season. The victory was achieved due to the brilliant results of the bowlers, who helped to restrict Delhi Capitals to a slim score of 147 for six despite a solid start provided by the openers. Prithvi Shaw made 24 runs on 16 balls which includes 5 boundaries. While Shikhar Dhawan made 51 runs on 47 balls. They added a good partnership of 43 runs and 41 runs with the skipper Shreyas Iyer 18 runs of 20 balls and Rishabh Pant 25 runs of 13 runs.
Delhi Capitals seemed ready to chase the target of 170 before Dwayne Bravo took 3 wickets by giving 33 runs. Paul Keemu fell for a duck in the next over by Ravindra Jadeja while Dhawan fell from the first ball of the 18th over, becoming the third scalp of Bravo. Delhi Capitals from 120-2 to 127-6 on 12 deliveries. Axar Patel 9 not out on 9 runs and Rahul Tewatia 11 not out of 9 runs helped Delhi to 147 for six at the end.
In response, Shane Watson made 44 runs off 26 balls and Suresh Raina made 30 runs on just 16 balls. They added 52 runs partnership for the second wicket after Ambati Rayudu got out by Ishant Sharma. When Raina got out, Chennai Super Kings was comfortably placed with only 50 required on 58 balls. Kedar Jadhav 27 of 34 balls and MS Dhoni 32 on 35 balls brought their team home without too much trouble.
