CPL players will have an advantage over other players in IPL
Ashish Nehra has proclaimed that the CPL stars, who will travel to the Middle East for the IPL, would have an advantage over the other players due to their physical condition, having played cricket for more than a month. Nehra also praised CSK’s 40-year-old leggie Imran Tahir, calling him a “dedicated” player.
The 2020 edition of the Caribbean Premier League is scheduled to end on September 10, having started on August 18, nine days before the Indian Premier League in the Middle East. While CPL would continue to host at home in Windies, IPL will be staying for a period of two months in the UAE.
While a group of players who have played in the CPL would miss out on the first week of IPL action, former RCB bowling coach Ashish Nehra proclaims that they will have an advantage over the other stars of the tournament.
“I would like to say, whichever player plays CPL, there is no guarantee that their performance will be replicated in the IPL, but they will definitely have an advantage over the other players,” Nehra said on the Star Sports Cricket Connected program.
“If you come to the UAE after playing for a month, it will definitely make a difference, be it Kieron Pollard or Imran Tahir or Rashid Khan,” he added.
The former Indian runner was also high praise for Proteas leggie Imran Tahir. At the age of 40, the leggie continues to be an integral part of the CSK setup under the leadership of MS Dhoni. The franchise would miss the services of Mitchell Santner from New Zealand, Dwayne Bravo and Tahir from Windies, who will be part of the mega event on the Caribbean island.
“Even today when Imran Tahir takes ground, he celebrates like an 18-20 year old player. He is a dedicated gamer. When we talk about a certain age, when you can play more games and practice more at that age, it is always better. It will be a very good thing for Imran Tahir to play the IPL after playing in the CPL. “
