CPL 2021: Rajhastan Royals Buy’s CPL Franchise Barbados Tridents and is Renamed as Barbados Royals
After the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kolkata Knight Riders and Punjab Kings, another IPL team Rajasthan Royals has invested in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). Rajasthan has bought a stake in the CPL franchise Barbados Tridents, as a result, the Barbados Tridents will be renamed as Barbados Royals.
Royal Sports Group bought ownership of the team in the CPL as the third franchise in the IPL. Earlier, the Kolkata Knight Riders had bought ownership of the CPL team Trinibago Knight Riders. The Punjab Kings also bought ownership of St. Lucia Jukes in the 2020 season.
The current champions of the Barbados Royals CPL. The team also won the title for the first time in 2014 under Kieron Pollard. However, from the CPL 2021 season, the team will be known as Barbados Royals.
Although there is a change in the team’s partnership, there is no change in the team’s captaincy. Former West Indies captain Jason Holder will be in charge of the 2021 season as well as the 2020 season. Legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakkara, who worked in Rajasthan, will be on the coaching panel.
