Carlos Brathwaite in Super Over ends TKR winning run, CPL 2019
Carlos Brathwaite full effort ensured that St Kitts and Nevis Patriots won their third victory in Super Over in the current Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2019). The match between the Patriots and the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) could not decide on the 20 more stipulated, and the game went on to Super Over.
Leading to his side from the front, Brathwaite took center attention on the Super Over as he scored 17 runs with the bat and then only conceded 5/1 in the tiebreaker.
Batting first, TKR got off to an excellent start courtesy of Lendl Simmons, who is in sublime form. He followed his previous scores of 63 of 39 and 86 of 42 with a 90 of 45 balls, which included nine fours and six sixes.
In the first ten overs, TKR had reached 122/1. Simmons continued to strengthen, and even after being fired with a total of 140, Darren Bravo and James Neesham made sure the runs flow didn’t stop. Sixty runs scored in the last 30 balls, and the Knight Riders finished in 216/4.

In response, Evin Lewis inspired by the hosts. He waited for him until the fourth time before breaking 31-runs from Jimmy Neesham’s birthday, clearly indicating that he was serious. Despite losing two early wickets, Patriots had 67-runs to his name at the end of the play.
Patriots’ entries threatened to crumble after the dismissal of Lewis and Mohammad Hafeez, but Brathwaite and Shamarh Brooks took matters into their hands and took the team to 155–4 in 15 overs. In a sequence of whirlwind events, the two sent back to the cabin, but Fabian Allen lay down at Kieron Pollard on the 18th, hitting three sixes. The equation reduced to 25 required 12-ball runs, and finally 19 of six balls. Moreover, with Emrit hitting Neesham for 18-runs, the game entered the Super Over.
