Bumrah and Kohli silences the Jamaican crowd

On the 4th day of the second Test between the West Indies and India, the home team was forced to appoint Jermaine Blackwood as a concussion substitute for Darren Bravo. The 30-year-old batsmen were stuck on the side of his helmet during delivery of Jasprit Bumrah on the last day of the third day. And for the first time in history in an international match showed the presence of 12 batsmen in the same innings. Bumrah and Virat animated after Blackwood’s sacking. Blackwood looked solid in the middle, scoring 38 points on 72 balls with the help of four limits and a six. He added a 61-point stand with Shamarh Brooks, who scored half a century. However, it was Bumrah, who represented Blackwood’s wicket. The Indian speedster threw a ball along the entire length, and the batsman made a half effort. The ball moved away from batsmen and took the outside edge. The wicketkeeper, Rishabh Pant, had no trouble completing the catch.

The dismissal made the Indians animated. While Bumrah and Kohli put fingers on lips and also made a gesture that silences the Jamaican crowd to shut up. Even Virat Kohli, the Indian skipper, did the same and made a similar gesture. The wicket was important because the rest of the Windies batsmen could only add 51 points. Five years after Blackwood’s dismissal, Kohli ousted Brooks. Jason Holder threw a quick shot 39 out of 35, but that was only to defy the inevitable – another resounding triumph of the Indians in the Caribbean islands.
