Blunders made by Team Selectors for World Cup 2019
The greatest event of Cricket history World Cup 2019 is only a few days away where each team will fight till the end to claim the biggest title of cricket history and to be called a champion. For this, every member is selected in a squad on the basis of performance and capability, even thou it is not an easy task to do so, making decisions that are sometimes harsh but they have to balance the squad and pick up the right person at the right time to be in the battle of champions.
Despite having such a tough job, it all depends on the team selector that which squad they choose that is going to play the matches. There are always substitutes selected to overcome any case of injury or any other incident that may occur.
Below there are some blunders that are made by the team selectors of each team that can cause real damage.
Mohammad Amir Pakistan
There is no doubt about the talent and skill of this young fast bowler as he destroyed every team’s batting order. Coming back to the team after the match-fixing scandal, Mohammad Amir still showed his class by his outstanding bowling and we have seen the best bowling spell back in Champions Trophy 2017 Final that is played against the rivals India. Right now for the upcoming series Mohammad Amir is selected and this is the perfect time for him to show again his bowling skills so that the chief selectors feel the guilty of not including the most outstanding bowler in a squad for the mega event.
Jofra Archer England
A total all-rounder package with aggression known for its rapid pace and high striking shots is also the victim of being not selected for the ICC World Cup 2019 squad. The young lad is going to miss the opportunity to show his skills when the World Cup is going to held in England and Wales, it is sort of disappointing for this young talented lad. We have seen his outstanding performance in many leagues like IPL, Country cricket, and BBL. This guy is selected for the upcoming series playing against Pakistan and this is the perfect time for this lad to show his skills and make the selectors regret of their blunder they made.
Reeza Hendricks South Africa
The opening batsmen who have performed quite amazing in the domestic cricket should get the chance to polish him and to serve his nation. But despite having such a great average and striking rate, the selector chooses Hashim Amla, might be because Hashim can handle the pressure and is well-experienced batsmen as compared to the Hendricks. But the selectors should have chosen him in the squad where it can show some positive game in the ground that might help the African team.
Peter Handscomb Australia
The talented wicket-keeper batsman that has shown his class against the series played between India. To be true he is a fortune for the Australian team as they won the series 3-2 and was the third highest run scorer of series with an average of 47 by scoring 236 runs in 5 matches. It would be the best option for the Australian team as it can hunt the bowlers in the upcoming event. But, unfortunately, the selectors did not select him and made the blunder for not selecting him in the squad for upcoming event ICC World Cup 2019.
Dimuth Karunarathne Sri Lanka
The man who played last ODI in 2015 ICC World Cup is now going to lead the Sri Lankan team in the upcoming event. Well, this decision has stunned all the Sri Lankan fans, the 30-years old new captain of Sri Lankan team has played 17 ODI and scored only 190 runs at the average lesser than 16 is surely the biggest blunders ever made by the chief selectors who elected this man as a skipper for the mega event.
Tom Blundell New Zealand
The quickest centurion in T20 for the New Zealand in the domestic history is an exceptional player for their team as it sealed the World Cup title from India with his brilliant striking knock of 84 runs in 43 balls against the great team India. The average of 37.74 in first-class cricket shows that he is one of the perfect men that can be handy for the New Zealand team in this upcoming tournament. The batting style and aggression is the best thing that suits him to play ODI cricket but the selectors had made the huge error for not selecting him for the ICC World Cup 2019.
Marlon Samuels West Indies
The man who took his team in the World Cup Qualifies 2018 is the best player for West Indies as it has scored more than 5000 ODI runs and is one of the best and experienced batsmen in the middle overs for West Indies. It’s a bit harsh decision and to be true an unfair decision made by the team selectors for not choosing their best-experienced brat for upcoming tournament ICC World Cup 2019.
Asghar Afghan Afghanistan
Right before the mega and most important even for the team Afghanistan; he stunned most of his fan by not leaving his leadership duties. The skipper has led his team to victory in 31 ODI, and 46 T20 out of 37, this shows how much great skipper is he for Afghanistan but still it is difficult to understand why he refuses to lead the team. Although there are many other options like Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan that are known for their skills can boost up the moral of Team and can make upsets in upcoming Mega even ICC World Cup 2019 for sure. Now Gulbadin Naib is leading the Afghanistan Squad and we hope he shows his talent and lead his team to be the most unpredictable team in this upcoming event.
Rishabh Pant India
The rising star and the player is known for his aggressive batting has a wide range of shot selection and can strike the ball so hard, having so much talent and showing it in the Australian tour that what this youngster is capable of. Despite having ODI strike rate of 131 and IPL strike rate of 163, Rishabh Pant is not selected for the ICC World Cup 2019. The decision led the fans in worry but they are hoping that this blunder doesn’t cost them huge damage.
Imrul Kayes Bangladesh
Soumya Sarkar, Litton Das, and Sabbir Rahman are back in the squad that causes the damage to Imrul Kayes and he is excluded from the mega event ICC World Cup 2019. Imrul Kayes has shown his skills but still, the team selectors did not pick him up for the World Cup 2019 squad, having experience of playing with a new swinging ball it would be a very useful player in the pitch conditions of England and Whales.
