BCB raising the salaries of women cricketers for the national team
The Bangladesh Cricket Board BCB is considering raising the salaries of contracted women cricketers for the national team. Shafiul Alam Nadel Chowdhury, chairman of the BCB’s women’s wing, told CricketBaz on Tuesday (August 25th). He said they had sent a proposal to the board to increase the international match fees and salaries of women cricketers.
The salary and other benefits of women cricketers in Bangladesh are much less than that of male cricketers. Male cricketers get Rs 6 lakh for Test match fee and Rs 3 lakh and Rs 2 lakh for ODI and T20 respectively.
On the other hand, women cricketers get only 100 US dollars for the ODI match fee. Even less in T20. In this shortest format, Jahanara’s match fee is only 65 US dollars. Shafiul Alam Nadel Chowdhury has admitted that the match fee and salary of women cricketers will be increased, but it is not possible to match it with male cricketers.
“The difference between men’s and women’s cricket is huge and it has to be acknowledged,” he said. As a result, it is not possible to increase the match fee of female cricketers like male cricketers. ‘
“I agree that in the current reality, women’s international match fees (US 100) are negligible,” she said. That’s why we have proposed to increase it to 400 US dollars.
Shafiul added that the women’s wing has proposed to the board to increase the number of contracted players and their salaries by 10-20 per cent. “It is true that it is difficult for women cricketers to survive on such a low salary, but we are not expecting any dramatic change and we are trying to move forward with different initiatives,” she said. ‘
