Match Preview
Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka in the first Test match of the series on Wednesday (April 21, 2021). The Bangladesh team is committed to overcome the bad memories of the New Zealand series and turn around in this series. Test captain Mominul Haque claims that even if Shakib is not in the team, something good is possible in the combined performance of the rest. The match will start at 10:30 am Bangladesh time.
Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has released the list of international commentators, umpires, and match referees for the Sri Lanka-Bangladesh two-match Test series. According to a press release issued by SLC today (April 17), only Shamim Ashraf Chowdhury is from Bangladesh as a commentator.
All the umpires and match referees in the series are Sri Lankans. The ICC has been slow to appoint neutral umpires and match referees since last year due to the Coronavirus. Ranjan Madugalle, who has already conducted 196 Tests, will officiate the series. Kumar Dharmasena and Ruchira Palliaguruge will be the field umpires.
Rabindra Vimalasiri will be seen in the role of TV umpire. The fourth umpire is Lyndon Hannibal (1st Test) and Pragit Rambukwela (2nd Test). Reserve umpires Pragit Rambukwela (1st Test), Lyndon Hannibal (2nd Test) and Graeme LeBroy are the reserve match referees.
Former Sri Lankan cricketers Russell Arnold, Pervez Maruf, popular Sri Lankan commentator Roshan Abesinghe, former Pakistani cricketer Amir Sohail and Bangladeshi commentator Shamim Ashraf are the international TV commentators in the series.
