Babar Azam wearing a jersey with the Alcohol company logo
Being a Muslim, the use of alcohol is almost completely banned in Pakistan. But Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistan T20 team, came down to play county cricket wearing a jersey with the logo of a company of that alcohol. Babar Azam took to the field in the Vitality T20 Blast for England’s county team Somerset on Thursday (September 3).
The 25-year-old batsman’s jersey at the time had the logo of a beer company called ‘Tribute’. Babar Azam has faced a lot of criticism in the match game after such a jersey. He, therefore, requested the club to remove the logo.
Somerset has said it will not have the logo on its jersey. Earlier, Hashim Amla, Imran Tahir, and Adil Rashid got into trouble for putting alcohol logos on their jerseys. They have also agreed to compensation terms for removing the logo from the jersey.
