Azhar Mahmood coaching suited for T20 only, Usman Shinwari
Pakistan’s left-arm pacer, Usman Khan Shinwari, believes that former bowler coach Azhar Mahmood is only eligible to train in Twenty20 cricket. While speaking at a press conference at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Shinwari said he is eager to work with legendary Pakistani player Waqar Younis.
“Azhar Mahmood’s training limited to Twenty20 cricket,” Shinwari said. “He had played in many leagues, and he used to help us play slower bowling and New Yorkers for T20. While Waqar bhai can advise on all three formats.”
“I want to learn about sewing and balancing Vicky Bhai’s new ball,” he added.
The left pacemaker insisted that it is committed to representing the country in all formats.
“It’s Amir and Wahab’s personal decision to give up the longer format as they are aware of the burden their body can bear,” he said. “However, I’m focused on playing for Pakistan in all formats.”
The 25-year-old is also excited about the chance to play with newly appointed Pakistani coach, boss, and top coach Misbahul Haq.
“I’ve played under Misbah Bhai’s captaincy before, and I learned a lot from him,” he said. “I’m happy with your appointment as head coach as you watch every session and give your bowlers confidence.”
