Australia England and New Zealand touring Pakistan in 2021-22
Pakistan cricket got good news after the loss in the Test series and the draw in the T20 series on the soil of England. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) CEO said Australia, England, and New Zealand have shown interest in touring Pakistan in 2021-22. Cricket in Pakistan has been closed since the 2009 militant attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team.
Cricket returned to the country in 2015 with a tour of Zimbabwe to Pakistan. Bangladesh and Sri Lanka played on Pakistani soil last year. Now the PCB wants to normalize cricket at home by bringing in big teams like Australia, England, and New Zealand.
Wasim Khan, CEO of the PCB, said: “If the overall situation in the world is good, the top three teams in Test cricket (Australia, England and New Zealand) have assured us that they will visit Pakistan in 2021-22. Considering the overall situation in the world, regular cricket will return to Pakistan in the coming years.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Ehsan Mani has said that it is safe to host cricket. “The UAE will not be used as Pakistan’s home venue for very long,” he said. Due to the use of the UAE as a home venue, they have to pay a large part of the PCB income. England’s white-clad captain Joe Root has also expressed optimism about playing in Pakistan.
However, the Zimbabwean team is coming to Pakistan next month before the arrival of the three big teams. The Zimbabwean team is scheduled to play three ODIs and three T20I matches in Pakistan on October 20.
