Andre Russell Hospitalized After Suffering Nasty Blow On Head
In another incident on the pitch that shook the game in recent times, Kolkata Knight Riders star Andre Russell was Stretchered off the ground by medical staff after a Nasty blow to his helmet on Head. The horrific incident took place in the first innings of Jamaica Tallawahs’ clash against St. Lucia Zouks in Sabina Park on Thursday in CPL 2019.
Andre Russell took on a CT scan, and the franchise later gave a medical update, confirming that the star suffered no severe injuries. However, doctors asked Andre Russell to rest. As a result, the West Indies star headed straight to his hotel from the hospital and played no more role in the game.
The incident occurred on the 14th after Russell, batting to zero, was unable to connect with a short ball. Zouks’ fast bowler, Hardus Viljoen, delivered a short ball, and the ball hit Russell’s helmet near the right ear.

The robust all-rounder had recoiled before Viljoen delivered the ball, so the bowler followed the batsmen and stopped him. As a result, Russell was unable to execute the ball and ended up hitting the punch. Russell immediately fell to the ground, and Zouks’ fielders took off their helmets.
The medical team soon rushed to the field to monitor the player before the batsmen managed to stand up. He was beginning to walk away, retired wounded when he was forced to stop. He brought a stretcher and took Russell out, with a collar on. At first glance, it looked like Russell’s helmet had no neck guard.
Tallawahs finished the first inning in 170 to 5, adding only 38 runs in the last six overs. They eventually lost by five wickets. It was his third consecutive defeat of the campaign.
