South Africa name Amol Muzumdar as batting coach for Test series against India
South Africa on Monday named former Indian batter Amol Muzumdar as his interim batting coach for the test show against India, starting October 2. Muzumdar will replace Dale Benkenstein, who departed after the team’s sad performance at the 2019 World Cup.
Cricket’s Cricket’s Acting Director Corrie van Zyl said Muzumdar is a “perfect fit” for them.
“Amol is perfect for us. It brings an intimate knowledge of the playing conditions of the Indians and the challenges that our batsmen will probably face. It also helped us in the spinning field we performed recently in India and, therefore, has already built a good working relationship with Aiden Markram, Temba Bavuma and Zubayr Hamza,” Zyl told Sport24.co.za.
Muzumdar said he is excited about his “new chapter” and wants to prepare the talent on the cricket field.
“Cricket always and will continue to be my calling, Having spent 25 years on the field as a player, I intend to spend the next 25 tapping and preparation talents on the cricket field. I’m very excited about this new chapter of my training. Career, ” said Muzumdar.
