Shoaib Akhtar Tweet and Mocks Misbah ul Haq’s Dual Role appointment
Former Pakistani player Shoaib Akhtar tweets on the appointment of former Pakistan captain Misbahul Haq as new head coach and head of selection for Pakistan’s cricket team on Twitter. The fast-bowling player Akhtar mocked Misbah in a tweet suggesting that the former captain could also be on his way to becoming the new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
“Congratulations to Misbahul Haq on the new ‘dual’ role of Head Coach and Selector Chief for the Pakistan Cricket Team. I’m surprised he hasn’t been appointed President of the PCB along with him, ” tweeted Akhtar.
However, the fast-bowling player clarified that it was a joke and wanted good luck to the new coach and head coach.
“I was kidding. I hope it does wonders like before,” he added.
The tweet is presented as a backdrop for Misbahul Haq’s appointment as head coach and head of selection for the Pakistan cricket team by the PCB on Wednesday.
Misbah will replace former head coach Mickey Arthur, who removed after suggestions from the cricket committee. It should be noted that Misbah was part of the same committee at the time.
The former captain confirmed as head coach of Pakistan’s men’s national team in all three formats on a three-year contract.
The 45-year-old unanimously chose a five-member panel that included Intikhab Alam (former captain and coach of the oldest Pakistan team), Bazid Khan (former international cricketer and one of the most respected commentators), Assad Ali Khan (board member), Wasim Khan (Executive Director, PCB) and Zakir Khan (Director – International Cricket, PCB) after a robust recruitment process.
