Afghanistan Vs New Zealand CWC19 Match 13 Result
New Zealand won the toss and opted to bowl first in the 13th match of Cricket World Cup 2019.
Kane Williamson hit an undefeated 79 runs which guided his team a seven-wicket win against Afghanistan. The Black Caps took the worst possible start when Aftab Alam had Martin Guptill taken to the first ball of the match. In Afghanistan Rashid Khan was beaten to the head by Lockie Ferguson’s bouncer during the first over. He left the field and failed his concussion test, dismissed him from the game for the remainder of the match and deprived Afghanistan of his best spinner. In the absence of Rashid, Aftab Alam led the Afghan attack, which forced Colin Munro to leave New Zealand 41-2.
Williamson took his chance when he only managed to get criticized. Williamson alongside Ross Taylor stabilized the innings in a partnership of 89 runs. The duo picked up singles and scored an occasional four until Taylor was knocked over by Aftab Alam for his 48 rounds on 52. New Zealand then reached the target comfortably in 32.1 overs. A little earlier, Neesham reversed the situation for the Kiwis with its impressive medium-Cadence bowling alley.
Invited to fight first, Hazratullah Zazai and Noor Ali Zadran broke a partnership of 66 runs. But Hazratullah hit one directly at Colin Munro, covered in the Neesham bowling alley. Captain Gulbadin Naib failed with a review to reverse the decision of his advantage because Afghanistan lost four wickets for four runs in 21 overs. Hashmatullah Shahidi scored 59 runs for Afghanistan, but Neesham and Lockman Ferguson finished with four wickets.
Man of the Match Award:
