Afghanistan Vs Zimbabwe Test Series 2021 | Afghanistan Announced Their Test Squad Against Zimbabwe

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) has announced a 19-member Test Squad ahead of the two-match Test series 2021 against Zimbabwe. There are new faces in this squad with Azgar Afghan as the captain. Six of the 19 members have been named to the Afghan Test squad for the first time.

The two-match Test series will be held in Abu Dhabi in March 2021. Despite Rashid Khan, Mujib Ur Rahman is not on the Test team. With the departure of Mohammad Nabi from Test cricket, there is no other familiar face in the squad except one Rashid.

However, many were surprised after the announcement of such a strange squad of Afghans. But ACB Director of Cricket Rais Ahmedzai himself has revealed the reason behind the announcement of such a squad. He said that there are so many new faces in the team to give a chance to the youngsters in red-ball cricket.

He said, “The cricketers who have been called up have made a place in the squad by performing well in domestic cricket. I think they should be given a chance in Test cricket. If someone plays well, the doors of the national team are open for him in any format. “

Afghanistan has fielded eight new players for the two-match Test Series 2021 against Zimbabwe. Eight cricketers have been named in the Test squad for the first time.

The first called cricketers are Abdul Malik, Munir Ahmad Kakar, Shahidullah Kamal, Bahir Shah Mahbub, Fazal Haque Farooqi, Salim Safi, and Zia Ur Rahman Akbar.
