AB De Villiers Not Returning to International Cricket, De Villiers won’t come out of Retirement
There were rumors that AB de Villiers would return to international cricket. The former Proteas batsman has expressed his desire to return to the national team during the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). South Africa national team coach Mark Boucher also took the initiative to bring him back to the national team. But in the end, AB De Villiers is not returning to International Cricket officially confirmed.
Coach Mark Boucher wanted De Villiers to return to the national team because of his great performances in various franchise leagues. But he turned down the offer. Cricket South Africa has final talks with de Villiers, the CSA said in a statement. He is adamant about his own decision, Ab De Villiers won’t come out of retirement.
Ordinary cricket fans were waiting for the Villiers storm to be seen again in international cricket. However, it is no longer happening because of his own determination.
De Villiers retired from international cricket while in the best form of his career. Despite retiring from international cricket, he continues to play regularly in franchise leagues in various countries.
AB de Villiers retired from international cricket in 2016 at the age of just 34. He played 114 Tests, 228 ODIs, and 26 Twenty20 Internationals for the national team.
The South African Cricket Board announced the squad for the series against Ireland and the West Indies on Tuesday (May 18). There were rumors that De Villiers could return to the team in these two series. However, he did not get a place in the South Africa squad.
