15-year-old Shafali named in India squad for T20 against SA
Shafali Verma, 15-year-old, has been cornered to be part of the India T20 squad as a replacement for Mithali, who previously announced her retirement from the game’s shortest format.
Indian Women Cricketers, Mithali Raj and Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the ODI and T20 Indian teams respectively against South Africa according to a statement issued by BCCI. South Africa’s women’s team will play India in a five-match T20 series in Surat, followed by a three-match ODI series in Vadodara.
Harmanpreet is Mithali’s vice-captain at the ODI, while Smriti Mandhana will be Harmanpreet’s alternate for the T20Is. The T20 series begins on 24 September, and the last match played on 4 October. The ODI series starts on October 9 and will continue until October 14.
